Velvet is one of the warmest and thickest fabrics you can wear in fall/winter, but it's also a rather "daring" fabric. Because velvet blazers and, especially, full suits, are rather unusual to see on a daily basis (compared to wool and cotton, or even tweed), it takes more confidence, style and know-how to pull off velvet.
We put together this short guide to help you along the way:
The Different Colors
There's a variety of velvet colors you can choose from, though the classics, and our favorites, are red, black and blue velvet. By not limiting yourself to a store bought blazer, you can customize your blazer and add features that fit your style. You want gold buttons with your velvet blazer? Done! You want internal lining? Done! You want a pocket for your pocket square? Done!
(This obviously applies to all Sumissura products, not just the blazer!)
The velvet blazer is a good choice if you want to stand out, be stylish, but not go all out with a full velvet suit. If you are not used to wearing velvet, a blazer is a good start before moving on to pants/skirts or a full suit. It's subtle enough that you could wear it on a regular basis, but it's unique and stylish enough that it's for sure to turn heads.
This red, burgundy if you will, velvet blazer is nicely paired with a white cotton dress. The contrast between the velvet and the cotton, the burgundy and the white, is what really makes this look. It' stylish and classy, yet subtle enough to wear to work in the winter, or for a trendy weekend-dinner look.
This second velvet blazer look is more daring, and screams fashion. The black velvet blazer has contrasting gold metal buttons, both on the sleeves and the front - a nice touch, making the velvet blazer more trendy. This blazer is a great option for any after work or weekend events. Depending on the occasion, pair it with a dress or pants.
If a full velvet suit does not make a fashion statement, what does?
We love a velvet suit, especially for winter as it's stylish and keeps you warm!
This burgundy double breasted velvet suit looks amazing unbuttoned. This look is so well thought through - and it shows! The burgundy velvet suit is paired with same color hat, shoes and even lipstick! We love the attention to detail. Wear this look in fall or winter; you don't need a jacket over it as it's thick enough to keep you warm during early fall/winter days. It's perfect for trendy lunches or dinners.
